In Case of Death Binder
A planning binder for veterans and their families
Thirteen pages your family will need and will not want to go looking for. An immediate-action checklist for the first 72 hours, a page of the phone numbers that actually get answered, and eight sections to fill in while you can: DD-214 and VA claim details, wills and directives, accounts and policies, survivor benefits, key contacts, and what you want done. Fill in what you can. Leave the rest blank. Tell someone where it lives.
- GI Bill Comparison Tool VA.gov Check what your education benefits actually pay at a specific school before you enroll. Tuition covered, monthly housing allowance for that ZIP code, book stipend, and whether the school participates in Yellow Ribbon.
- Current VA disability compensation rates VA.gov The monthly payment tables by combined rating and number of dependents. The VA updates these each December, so check the current year rather than a number someone quoted you.
Some things need to be on paper.
A binder in a drawer works at 6 a.m. when the wifi password died with the person who knew it. If you want the In Case of Death Binder on paper, we will print it, punch it, tab it, put it in a binder, and mail it to you.
$25 covers the binder, the printing, and the postage. It is not a tax-deductible donation, because you are receiving something in return. We send it within 3 to 5 business days.
If $25 is what is stopping you, say so on the form. We will send it anyway. We do not means-test anything else and we are not starting here.

Why there is a donate button on a free page.
Nothing on this page is gated and nothing will be. No email capture, no account, no drip campaign. You can take every file here and never speak to us again, and that is a completely acceptable outcome.
We built these because we needed them and nobody had them. Making the next one costs time, and printing costs money. Anything you put in goes to the Hachi Fund and to producing more of these. If you cannot, take it anyway. That is what it is for.
